Cunard Ambassador

Cunard Ambassador

Originally intended to be one of eight small cruise ships for Overseas National Airways, Cunard Ambassador was one of two vessels actually constructed.

However before the vessel entered service, Overseas National Airways ran into financial troubles. The company aborted the project. Eager to get into the emerging cruise market, Cunard acquired the vessel and named her Cunard Ambassador.

Cunard used the vessel on seven-day cruises, including the New York to Bermuda, San Juan and Vancouver to Alaska during the summer seasons.

On 12 September 1974 after a fire, the vessel was withdrawn from Cunard service, having been declared a total loss. The hull was sold, and became a Danish sheep carrier, Linda Clausen.
