Frequently Asked Questions about Queen Anne

Q: Is Queen Anne an Ocean Liner?

A: No, the Queen Anne is a Pinnacle-class cruise ship designed to primarily undertake pleasure voyages rather than direct point to point line voyages. You can learn the difference between an Ocean Liner and a Cruise Ship here.

Q: Where was Queen Anne built?

A: Queen Anne was built at Fincantieri Marghera Shipyard, Italy – though components and parts come from far and wide. The ship’s bow section was built at the Castellammare di Stabia shipyard.

Q: How big is Cunard’s Queen Anne?

A: 114,188 gross tons, making her slightly bigger (internal volume) than Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth but smaller than Queen Mary 2.

Q: Is the Queen Anne a good ship?

A: Yes, Queen Anne is a good ship. But whether you will enjoy Queen Anne really depends on what kind of Cunard experience you are after. Queen Anne reflects a slightly more casual, more cruise-focused Cunard experience. Her interiors are unlike the other current ships, and perhaps more akin to the cruise-centric design featured on past Cunarders such as Royal Viking Sun, or even QE2 in some areas.

Q: Where is Queen Anne now?

A: Queen Anne has been handed over to Cunard and is now sailing on cruises from Southampton. You can keep track of the ship here.

Q: When was Queen Anne’s maiden voyage?

A: Queen Anne’s first voyage departed on 3 May, 2024.

Q: Where did Queen Anne’s first voyage go?

A: The first voyage for Queen Anne was a 7-night voyage to Lisbon, taking in A Coruña sailing from 3 May 2024 to 10 May 2024.

Q: Can you wear Jeans on Queen Anne?

A: Yes, of course. T-shirts too! During the day, Cunard has a smart casual atmosphere. It’s been this way since I first cruised on QE2 in 1995. Some people prefer to dress up during the day when on board, and that’s fine. But you don’t have to, you aren’t expected to and indeed those who do are often in the minority, especially during summer cruises. After 6pm, this changes and the atmosphere becomes more formal. Cunard has relaxed their dress code in recent years. Many traditionalists lament the loss of the high levels of formality in the evenings. Others prefer the less strict atmosphere. That said, after 6pm you’re still expected to wear smart clothing such as collared shirts, slacks and evening dresses.

Q: Is room service free on Queen Anne?

A: It depends. For decades Cunard was renowned for having 24-hour room service included for no extra fee in all cabin categories. Sadly, in 2025 Cunard changed this for Britannia-grade rooms, where there is now a fee. This actually impacts the majority of passengers on board all of the current ships. There are fees for items priced on the room service menu. It is still included as ‘complementary’ in Britannia Club, Princess Grill and Queens Grill. Breakfast items are still included in the fare for all passengers if you order before 10am.
